This week for my Tanka Tuesday Challenge, I’ve done something a little different. I’m participating in a Facebook Event called, Authors Against Domestic Violence, October 4, 2018, with D. G. Kaye, Writer.com (Debby Gies) at 5:30 PM MST.
Sharon Johnson is the event organizer. (All times listed are EST) Here’s what she shares:
Come join me and Luna Saint Claire on October 4th for The Break The Silence Authors Against Domestic Violence event hosted by Peacock Nation from 5pm to 10pm.
Domestic Violence is still a major problem in our country even today. I hope you’ll join us to learn more while seeing some of your favorite authors as well as new ones.#LunaSaintClaire 5pm

In honor of this event, I wrote a double Tanka to celebrate the power of women!
Goddesses Unite!
Call out your superpowers.
Be invincible,
ignite your intuition,
brain power, and inner strength.
Stop the secrecy—
Speak, and have your voices heard.
Together we change
from victims of violence
into heroines of courage.

Good job, Colleen! As you know, I’ve written several books about violence against women (and children and men)–not only domestic violence, but all types of sexual assault. This sounds like a great event.
So, here’s another tanka for you. 🙂
Words can inspire,
dare others to dream of light,
dismiss the shadows
if you can, discover strength,
it is there inside you now

I like that, heroines of courage. ❤
I'd say have fun at the party but with the subject matter that may not be appropriate. Instead, I'll say, much success!

Hi Colleen! Wow! Very inspiring and empowering double Tanka. I LOVED it! We also need better laws in place to help and protect victims of Domestic Violence. Too many times these victims have spoken out only to be brushed aside and that could only make their situation worse. Thanks for creating awareness, my friend. ❤ xx
