“Cosmic Messages,” #Haibun, Verse Envelope

dawn in the desert
bird song awakens the day
heat shimmers in waves

The sun warms my back, and I gaze at the stark beauty of the Sonoran desert. Thick-trunked Saguaro cactus spread their arms to the sapphire sky as if showing gratitude for another day of being.

Verdant green Palo Verde trees filled with saffron blossoms wave to me in the breeze, welcoming me to my new home. I stand in awe, dumbfounded at how I’d stumbled into my personal Shangri-la.

best laid plans can fail
Yet, the universe led me
to a great finish

In due course, I surmised, when the cosmos speak… it’s always wise to listen. Welcome home.

    1. LOL! It can reach 117, but the lack of humidity makes it tolerable. Well, not 117! Our new house is built with a special cooling system for this desert area. We keep it around 75 degrees inside which is quite comfy. Blinds and curtains on the windows help too. ❤️🌵

    1. LOL! That’s what I thought too! It is hot as Hades here but the lack of humidity makes it all tolerable. All the streets and boulevards in the housing areas and within the cities are filled with glorious Native growing plants and trees. I’ll try to take more photos to share. It’s gorgeous! ❤️🌵

    1. Thanks, Linda. I really do love this area. It seems to be cooler too. I’m in Buckeye, but way north around the White Tank Mountains. Why they didn’t make us part of Surprise, AZ I’ll never understand. LOL! ❤

  2. It is! That is an amazing landscape. (My parents spent the last years of their lives in Phoenix, so I visited many times). I’m so glad you found your place. (K)
