Frank Tassone is buried in three feet of snow! For his Haikai challenge #177, this week he asks us to write our favorite haikai poem (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) alluding to either:
- Still Cold (yokan)/New Year (Shinnen)
- Mardi Gras/Ash Wednesday
“Still Cold,” haiku

Light on the snow is blinding!

Yes! We’d just come in from shoveling. I was snow blinded for a bit.

I can’t remember when I last saw snow. But the light, yes! I remember that!

After our snow the other day, the light was blinding. The snow glittered and sparkled. Pretty, but hard to shovel. Thank goodness for snow blowers. 😀 ❤

Not sure where it’s coming from, but we are supposed to get another ‘dump’ of white stuff staring over night and into tomorrow. Hubby is building a ‘shelter’ for our heat pump. Just sort of a lean-to to keep the majority of snow off the top of the unit. Kinda tough when you really only have one source of power and it is all electric.
Keep warm!! ((Hugs))

It is just 32 F now at about 4:30pm.
Hopefully ‘He’s’ almost done.

I like the contrast of the snowlight with the luminescent snowflakes. And you know how cold it is when the snow crunches!

You live in East Lansing?? It’s a small world. I live near Grand Haven.

We just moved here from AZ. We have friends who live close by. It was time to be nearby friends. I’m from Milwaukee, WI so this feels like home. ❤️

The snow insulates the sounds in neighborhood… it’s that stillness I wanted to capture. The crunch of tires in the snow means it’s really cold. ❄️🥶

It just started up again here. The great thing is I don’t have to go anywhere, or do anything!!! 🙂

I think this second storm has missed us. We’re just cloudy. Have fun watching the snow. Cuddle up with a good book! ❤

Perfect capture of “still cold”, Colleen! As long as I am on the inside looking out, I don’t mind the snow.

I so agree. Even the gray skies aren’t that bad when you’re inside. ❤
