For Frank Tassone’s challenge, I used the kigo “midsummer rain” for challenge #195 to write a solo renga:
midsummer rain flows
rivulets run down the street
rainbow slicks glisten
the heady scent of wet earth
moisture adds a second skin

For challenge #196, “summer moon (natsu no tsuki) / Strawberry Supermoon, I wrote a (5-7-5) haiku:
summer moon glitter
long light snakes across the lake
twilight shadows swell

For challenge #197 smoldering hot (moyuru) I wrote a tanka:
smoldering hot day
brilliant sun scintillations
a twinkling mirage
blurring the straight pathway home
stay on the straight and narrow

All wonderful but I like 195 best. Wearing moisture like a second skin indeed! Even today it’s muggy and 75.

Oh no… don’t melt!!
Lovely verses. I can picture all the scenes clearly 😀
Even with the sun playing peek-a-boo I was able to get some wash on the line and it dried quickly!

That’s awesome! We sat outside in the humidity and enjoyed a rain shower. It was so peaceful! ❤️

That sounds lovely. Smell of petrichor? (One of my favorite new words.)

Totally different smell of the wet earth after it was so dry for so long.

You wrote a poem for each theme like I did. I like them. Each one is really vivid, and I could visualize/feel the scenario. I liked your description of rainbow slicks, also “long light snakes across the lake” and “brilliant sun scintillations.”
