I’m spending the day dog sitting for our son from another mother, Dustin, while he attends his grandmother’s funeral. Dustin actually wrote a poem for his grandmother. 💜 It’s a chilly Michigan day at the Grand River. Here’s a double cinquain to memorialize my #MichiganLife:

Here’s a new photo of my great granddaughter: Oakley Mae. I’m so thankful for the miracles of modern medicine. 💝
Great poem, pictures, and grand baby!! 💜💜💜

Oh, those pesky squirrels! Oakley Mae has quite a head of hair on her. She looks cozy and contented in her little carseat.

The squirrels… LOL! Oakley is doing so well. My granddaughter sends me photos once a week. I can see how she is thriving. Her hair is amazing!

Just look at that precious wee one! Bairns are a blessing. I LOVE the squirrel/bird world picture. My sister sometimes stands by to make sure the squirrels and birds do not disturb each other’s food sources. Since she is the one who pays for the food and distributes said bounty, she feels completely comfortable laying down the law! (lol)

LOL! Every time I tried to photograph the birds in the feeder, they disappeared. So, no bird feeder photo. I agree with your sister. Those squirrels. LOL!

Thank you, Rebecca. Oakley is going to be a tall girl, I think. I love visiting Dustin’s place on the river. There is so much wildlife. I live in the city, so it’s a great escape into nature.

The squirrels are chewing/enlarging the holes in my feeder. Time for a new one with metal-framed openings.

They are wicked little creatures, aren’t they? I guess everyone has to eat. Dustin secured a metal plate on a pole for a feeder. It works great for the birds, but makes it easy for the squirrels to raid the seeds. It’s a constant battle. LOL!

Oakley Mae is beautiful! and I’m so glad all is well.
As to the squirrels….(K)

Thank you. Oakley is doing so well. The squirrels… LOL! The birds were so mad, and rightly so. I laughed at the dogs, who eventually chased the squirrel away. The birds were back at the seed in no time. LOL! Such is life at the river.

My sister-in-law has tried many methods to foil the squirrels at her feeder, but they always manage to get past.

Oakley is doing so well. I’m just so thankful. While I was at the river yesterday, the winds kicked up. We’ve had rain and gusts over 45mph since yesterday. It’s cold too! Brrr… 🥶

Squirrels are quite greedy when it comes to food.

Thanks, Sadje. I had a great laugh as how mad the birds were at the squirrel. Angry birds is a real thing. LOL! 💜

What a beautiful great-granddaughter you have, Colleen! I see you had sun yesterday! Enjoy it because I’m sure our winter white-out is coming your way. We’ve already got 8 inches since midnight. Have a great day!

Thanks Terri. Later that afternoon the winds howled and the skies opened up. We were 50 degrees yesterday, today we’re 30! Snow flurries and more wind. Thanks a lot for sending it our way. LOL! 🥶

I can imagine. It’s exhausting living in a city, even a small one, even on the outskirts…

We’re lucky to be on the outskirts of town. Our neighborhood is quiet even though there are plenty of kids. I like the mix of older and younger folks. xxoo

I’ve animal sat… or cared for some of my youngest pets – He’s got closer relatives now so we don’t get called so often.
I’ve actually got a couple of feeders the squirrels can’t get to. So I feed the squrrels seperatedly… they are fun to watch.
So glad Oakley is doing well. Looks like she got to go home or visit?
