About the host:

Debby and I have been friends for years now. Barely a day goes by that we don’t connect. She’s like a sister to me! She’s also one of my Sisters of the Fey, a group of extraordinary women who explore the magic in life.

Did you know she also hosts a podcast called Grief, The Real Talk Episodes, where she explores the realms of grief through her own experiences? She’s done extensive research on the subject to manage her own grief, but also to help others.

Debby is my favorite memoir author. She’s also fearless and not afraid to speak her truths. Her stories are funny, endearing, and something you can connect with, whatever stage of your life. I’ve read almost all of her books and recommend them all.

Have Bags, Will Travel, by D.G. Kaye

My Recommendation:

Have Bags, Will Travel is a humorous memoir written by the transcendent shopper and traveler, Canadian author, D.G. Kaye. Be prepared for hilarity as she relates her travails with customs agents and international flights, while she bemoans the capacity limits of her baggage.

Her love of shopping is a recurring theme in her writing, resulting in some of the funniest pieces in the book. Imagine you and your best friend traipsing all over Paris, literally wearing holes in the soles of your shoes while looking for the best deals. A great excuse to buy more shoes, right? Classic D.G. Kaye!

The author shares her adventures in much the same way she would if you were her best friend laughing over a glass of wine. Her voice is genuine, drawing the reader into her escapades. Many times, I wished I had been on some of these trips with the author… if you could stand all the laughter.

Preparing for a trip? Include this book in your carryon baggage. You’ll be glad you did!
