Dawn breaks—bold, golden light
an explosion of color against a winter-blue sky

When was the last time I felt sunshine on my face?

Bright light streaks the heavens, pink glow
birds circle from lofty heights

While I gaze up in awe from below

  2. I was lifting my gaze upwards too, Colleen! You’ve captured the purity of the sublime dawn! The sun is rather shy this time of year and it’s precious to feel the sunlight on one’s face!

      1. It sure is. I read something the other day that talks about the warming of the planet taking more water out of lakes, rivers, oceans, etc. and up into the air, which makes it ever cloudier 😦
