The Songs of the Seasons
Winter calls out with blustery winds broken by the silence of pure cold Spring arrives with bird song sweet echoes chanted on the wing Summer comes with the chirping of crickets slumber songs sung Autumn sings dirges as frost-crisped leaves drop from the trees © Colleen M. Chesebro
Linda Lee Lyberg is the host for dVerse Quadrille Monday. Linda asks us to write a quadrille (exactly 44 words, not including the title) using some form of the word music.
Hi Colleen – would you give me permission to recite this poem?

I appreciate your song of the seasons. They deserve to be celebrated.

Thanks, Liz. We all complain about the weather but that’s one thing that makes life so worth living. We never know what we’ll get.

Each season has its own songs. So true, Colleen. Lovely.

Thanks, Merril. The sound of the ice storm last night was unsettling… like a thousand tiny pellets hitting the windows.

I hope there wasn’t too much damage.

Two days later and a huge swath of the state is still without power. We’re lucky where we live in East Lansing. All of our power lines are underground so the ice storm didn’t knock out power.

Oh, you are fortunate.

Yes. Very much so. We had snow last night but only an inch. Tomorrow, it will warm up again so hopefully, the workmen can get the powerlines repaired.

Since it’s quite Spring-ish here, the birds are letting us know. Especially the mockingbirds. Lovely poem. 🙂

So lovely Colleen! Although, I don’t see a form of the word music anywhere. Did I miss it? 🙂

I thought the idea was to allude to music, so I wrote of the music or songs of the seasons. I didn’t realize I had to use the specific word.

Okay, but for future reference that is the case with the quadrille Prompt. Thanks Colleen. 🙂

You should take my poem out of the queue. I’ve had a lot going on and didn’t read close enough. I’ll remember next time. Thanks, Linda.

Oh Linda, I’m sorry I didn’t read close enough. I know how frustrating it is when folks don’t follow the directions. LOL! I’ll remember next time.

Thanks, Robbie. I should have added the word music, but it still turned out o.k.
