Pear Blossoms – Daily haiku 4/27/23

The pear trees that line the streets of my neighborhood are in full bloom this year. Look at that blue sky! I’ve not seen much sky this year, other than filled with clouds. Rain is on the way, so I got out today to share the beauty.

the noon winds exhale
in clusters—white mizzle falls
pear blossom sunshine

WP has had some kind of update again. Things are not working on the classic themes like they used to. I’m back using my old standby, Edin. If that doesn’t work, tomorrow I’ll go back to WP… again! I can’t help but wonder if this is how WP will FORCE us to use their FSE themes. 🤔 🙄

    1. I’ve not used the classic editor for years. But I’ve stayed with the classic themes. This article is for .org and I’ve not seen this theme available. Thanks for sharing. I know I will have to spend some time with these full site editing themes. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Yikes!

        1. Eugi (Franci) set up a FSE theme and she said it took forever and was difficult to set up. I’m dreading learning how to set the new themes up. But I think I will have to move in that direction soon.

  1. That’s so beautiful Colleen. An entire street! Exhaling in clusters–what a wonderful image.
WP is always cranky. I just try to ignore it anymore. (K)

    1. I try, but the themes freeze and refuse to work. WP’s advice is to change your theme and find one that doesn’t freeze. I think this is how they will move us to the FSE themes. When the classic themes go, you have no choice but to switch. There are no premium themes to choose from either as they are all FSE. I just might take the plunge! We’ll see how my weekend goes.

      1. I have never changed themes on either blog. You are much more adventurous than I! but of course you have a lot more content to deal with as well.

  2. Yes the pear blossom is wild here this year, I posted a Haiku on pear blossom here (second one down) 😊https://poetisatinta.wordpress.com/2023/03/11/mini-season-of-awakening-insects/

  3. Wow! I don’t which is more gorgeous your haiku or your photos! 🤩

I changed Ongoing Whimsy from the FSE theme back to a classic theme. Anytime I wanted to make a change, it was frustrating. Regarding the classic themes, I haven’t had any issues.

The FSE I was using is Stewart. I like it and may go back to it. It has a header, sidebar and footer.

    1. I was just looking for the name of the theme you tried. Thank you. When I’m creating posts WP freezes! It’s happened all of the browsers so I know it has to do with WP. It’s frustrating! Any suggestions, my computer guru? LOL.

      1. I had problems last week with WP notifications taking over my screens while in WP. I was using Vivaldi with Night Eye (same idea as Dark Reader). I found after hours of reinstalling Vivaldi, Night Eye was the culprit and not compatible with Vivaldi.

With that said, I researched all programs designed to darken screens and found any of them can slow down or cause other issues. So if you are using Dark Reader, that may be a problem. I like Dark Reader but feel it slows down my computer no matter which browser I use.

        1. Yes, I found out the same thing. Thanks so much, for sharing. I like safari and their dark mode, but I can’t find a free font bolder like Black Ink Little. Safari is slow and I refuse to pay for addons. My Mac runs better with safari, though. 🙄 I was on Firefox but that seems to be giving me issues too! I’m back on vivaldi, so we will see what happens. I’m just frustrated with the WP themes. They all are lacking one thing on each theme, so it’s always a toss up which will do the best job for what I want.

  4. I found another theme that is better than Stewart. The sidebar is on the right hand side – Bibimbap. Also, it seems easier to set up or I am getting more familiar with how to put these silly themes together. LOL

        1. I’ve tried every browser. My Mac seems to run the best with Safari. As the browser’s update, I noticed I had more problems. I even tried Google and that froze too. This is a new Mac. I’ve read articles that talk about the issues with Apple. I’m stable right now with Safari. There are issues with the themes. That I know. And why is everything so big? The buttons are huge and everything feels scrunched together. It’s crazy! 🤔

            1. I’m not sure what to do. This freezing issue on WP seems to be worse! I’ve gone through all the browsers. Chrome was the worst. I think it’s WP. I read other people we’re having issues too. The FSE themes are supposed to be more stable. Did you notice that? Once I get it set up I know you can’t change anything. 🤔

              1. I haven’t had the freezing issue, yet. I don’t feel the FSE themes are more stable. They take forever to load. Once it is set up, you can makes changes but it is time consuming. Plus, you can’t preview ahead of time. 😕

    1. I use the block editor, but we’re all using ‘classic’ themes. You have to switch to one of the hybrid themes specifically for the block editor. I don’t like the way any of the look. I’ve been using the block editor since 2018. I think some of my problem was FireFox. I switched to Safari for my mac and I seem to be doing better.

      1. I will! Hopefully our pink one will bloom but all the white ones are ready to go. They are amazing in the fall.
