A Double Ennead is 99-syllable poetry written in three stanzas with a syllable count of 6-5-11-6-5 per stanza. Sarah Southwest from dVerse, says:
Let’s have fun with yellow. You can write about the colour itself, or just sneak something yellow into your poem. A yellow bucket, a daffodil, an autumn leaf floating in a puddle. Let’s get to the yolk of the egg and the heart of the daisy. Let’s pour custard, let’s sprinkle turmeric, let’s smear mustard! Let’s yellow.
An avid reader, Colleen M. Chesebro rekindled her love of writing poetry after years spent working in the accounting industry. These days, she loves crafting syllabic poetry, flash fiction, and creative fiction and nonfiction.
In addition to poetry books, Chesebro’s publishing career includes participation in various anthologies featuring short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. She’s an avid supporter of her writing community on Word Craft Poetry.com by organizing and sponsoring a weekly syllabic poetry challenge, called #TankaTuesday, where participants experiment with traditional and current forms of Japanese and American syllabic poetry.
Chesebro is an assistant editor of The Congress of the Rough Writers Flash Fiction Anthology & Gitty Up Press, a micro-press founded by Charli Mills and Carrot Ranch.
In January 2022, Colleen founded Unicorn Cats Publishing Services to assist poets and authors in creating eBooks and print books for publication. In addition, she creates affordable book covers for Kindle and print books.
Chesebro lives in the house of her dreams in mid-Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes with her husband and two (unicorn) cats, Chloe & Sophie.

Yellow is the color of Spring. Your poem shows that very well.
What a perfect and inspiring challenge for a beautiful spring day post. I love these stanzas, “tender breezes caress forsythia gold.” I haven’t seen any yet, but nothing is more brilliantly yellow.
Yellow is the first color we see in Michigan in spring. The daffodils are just now starting, which means the forsythia isn’t too far away. We have buds on the boulevard pear trees, so hopefully this spring will be amazing… it 75 degrees F. right now. I’m sweating. LOL!
Marsha, I’m not seeing your wordcraftpoetry posts. You will have to send me a link. I don’t get half of my comments anymore. I have to search through them on the comments link on my blogs. 💛
It is super confusing. My mistake though in thinking that the yellow double ennead was your challenge. LOL. Do you remember, or did you ever take math tests that was a piece of cardboard with holes placed over the paper. You wrote your answers in the holes. Anyway, I think I read/skim posts with holes covering the paragraphs blocking out all the words but what I can see through the holes. I think I get it all, but I’ve missed big sections, then I make silly comments that make no sense because of the big chunks I miss. 🙂
My bad – I have to confess, I got your websites mixed up. I thought your challenge was the double ennead. Even though that wasn’t your challenge, I added the link to Mr. Linky on your other website.
Thank you for introducing me to the Double Ennead, Colleen, and for brightening my morning with ‘honey sun reflections ‘, ‘blazing daffodil songs and ‘forsythia gold’.
Thank you, Merril. I’m out of practice!! I have to get back to writing a poem a day, like I used to. I miss it so much. I’m working on a big project for a client. Soon… I’ll be done.
Thanks, Yvi. I think yellow is the first color we see emerging from spring here in Michigan. The pear trees are full of buds! I hope to have white petal rain falling soon!
That’s terrible. I’m sorry you have to go though this. It seems like no one wants to fix things anymore. My daughter and her husband in Florida have plumbing issues. Their landlord told them it’s up to them to fix it! I hope this gets resolved for you.
This is absolutely exquisite! I love; “tender breezes caress forsythia gold delicate petals disperse—dust in the wind au revoir to winter saffron on the ground.”😍💛💛💛
No, comments through WordPress. Half of them come through email now. I finally gave up and went to comments on the dashboard. If you link to Mr. Linky, I can find you. Thanks for checking. 💜
You’re inland, and that is interesting info about the tree blossoms. Here along the lake the leaves haven’t come out yet. It’s been in 70s here but you’re 10 some degrees hotter. I heard we might get snow on Monday! Only in Michigan!
Yellow is the color of Spring. Your poem shows that very well.

It got up to 80 here yesterday in Prescott. Too hot for a walk. Now it is barely 60. It bounces around.

What I found out is that YOUR double ennead was not a challenge, but I took it anyway. It was probably someone else’s challenge.
